The match report by the Veteran: The 21st match of the WC 2023 was played between the host India and the runner up of last world cup New Zealand. Both of them were unbeatable until this point and based on current performance probably the tournament favourites. So, this match may not have a lot of importance on paper as both the teams had more or less secured their place in the knock-outs, but it might well be the stage reharsal of a probable final. India had a rare bad day in the field where they dropped 3 catches. However, that was more than made up for by awesome display of bowling in the depth with Shami who played his first match of the tournament took 5 wickets and their batting lead by first their captain Rohit Sharma and later by Kohli, who missed his second consecutive century by 5 runs. In the end, India made the chase of 273 which was in no way a subpar total in this ground, looked easy.

In the IL Master group, given it was India’s match the focus was mainly in the actual match. However, the terminator was ruthless in his attempt to win the second match of the tournament and he did it with style in the end. He, unlike his usual tactics of one side heavy, made a very balanced team and got the result straight away. He is having a moderate tournament so far. May be what he needed is little bit of luck and patience. Great job mate and keep it up.

The second came the Clutch God. In the end he could not Clutch here. In fact, it was surprising that he came to top two given 7 of his players were from the loosing team. He was not having a good tournament. To use his bad luck to India’s advantage he selflessly made such a team. In spite of the selfless act or may be because of it he received the second prize. Very well done mate and best of luck.

The wooden spoon of this match went to the dark Horse. This is his first wooden spoon of the tournament which is surprising given his style of weird team selections. However, due to luck or due to sheer talent it was working until now. This match it did not work. Hard luck mate and best of luck for the future.
