The match report by the Veteran: It was the 31st game of the WC 2023. Pakistan beat Bangladesh convincingly to somehow manage to stay alive in the run of going to semis. Practically the chance is nil though. Bangladesh became the first team to be knocked out of the world cup. It was a completely one sided affair. Bangladesh could only make 204 as they hardly had any answer to Pakistan’s fiery spell. In answer Pakistan chased it in 32 overs with loss of just 3 wickets.

In the IL Master group, it was the day of the wonder women. Both the top and second best in today’s match are the only ladies of this group. Topper is the Ingenious who for second consecutive matches bested us. We all made fun of her due to number of wooden spoons she hold, some of us even said that her being in the match makes it tension free as wooden spoon is safe. If yesterday’s win was just an answer to those critics, today’s win is a warning to all of us that she cannot be trifled with anymore. She is a genius and now she is determined to prove it as well. They say there is no genius without idiosyncrasies. Those wooden spoons might be her way of laughing at us mere mortals – who knows! Only the time will tell. Everyone beware. By just a margin of four points the Lone Wolf came second. For her it is a bittersweet experience as at one side she could not win but at the other side her best friend in this group won this. She from last one week barring the last match hit a serious bad patch. So bad was her form in the recent past that she got 2 back to back wooden spoons for the second time. Her rise in last two matches was like a rise of Phoenix from the ash. She came out with all the fire and anger of a wounded and lonely wolf. We, the IL Master could only be a mere audience. However, Lone Wolf, it will not be easy for you. We know that you do not want it easy as that is not how you play. So, we accept the challenge. Congratulations on coming second in today’s match.

Finally, the Clutch God failed to clutch once more in the end and got his 3rd wooden spoon. He blames it on not getting enough time to make the team. However, given that there is a master who won it by playing just 10 men, it just sounded like an excuse. Hard luck mate but you have to do better than this. Best of luck for that.
