The match report by the Veteran: The 38th match of the world cup between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka did not have any significance in terms of this WC 2023. However, this match was more important for champions trophy qualification where only top 7 teams from here could participate. Bangladesh won this match with some margin to go ahead of Sri Lanka in this match. It was an one sided match where Bangladesh chasing a target of 280 did it in 42nd over and thus went above Sri Lanka to 7th position due to higher NRR. Only event of any interest in this match was the controversial time out wicket of Angelo Mathews. This happened first time in the history of cricket and probably going to heat up the social media for a few more days.

Off the field, in the IL Master group it was the Dude who could do nothing wrong today. His masterstroke was to make Shakib captain and having Asalanka in the team. The best thing about the dude is the casualness with which he plays the game. A game should be played in this way. In the second half when I told him, “Dude you are winning today”, and he was surprised and probably checked his score first time in D11. While some of us fight for each point, Dude does not even care. That is why he is the Dude. Great game Dude and many more to come. Congratulations.

The second position went to the Invincible. It was not a close contest though as Dude won by some margin. However, with this win the Invincible now came very close to the coveted top spot in the leader board. He could not show the masterclass he did during IPL yet, so probably his best is yet to come. So, he after a few bad games now coming back slowly but surely. In last couple of games he looked to have gained a lot of points and confidence. 10 more games left and the competition in the IL Master group is also getting interesting. Invincible is one of the top contender and he is not going to back down. So, masters be prepared for a terrific fight both on and off the field. Congratulations Invincible.

After wild spark of good form where the Lone Wolf was unlucky not to have win under her name, she did came close to the very top. However, her form again took a back turn. Out of all the Masters, she was the one who had seen the most ups and downs in this tournament. It is hard to predict what she does next. However, it would definitely be better than her performance tonight. Best of luck for that.
